HARTLEPOOL, UK – McDermott has contracted JDR Cable Systems to manufacture various components for Saudi Aramco’s Safaniya development, 125 mi (201 km) north of Dhahran offshore Saudi Arabia.
The scope of supply comprises five thermoplastic umbilicals and hardware connecting new production platforms to the subsea valve skid (SSVS).
The umbilicals ranging in length from 100-465 m (328-1,525 ft) will provide hydraulic and electric control to the SSVS.
JDR will manufacture the umbilicals at its site in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, with delivery scheduled for 4Q 2018.
This project is part of Aramco’s wider program to replace Safaniya’s aging facilities with electrified platforms to increase the field’s efficiency and production of the 37-Bbbl oilfield.
