OSLO, Norway – Statoil has ordered ABB Ability 800xA automation, control and safety systems for its Johan Castberg oil field development in the Barents Sea.
The project is based around an FPSO with 30 subsea wells.
ABB’s $25-million contract includes provision of simulation and related services to assist safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the vessel. The company will work with design contractorAker Solutions on implementation.
