SHARJAH, UAE – Lamprell says its offshore refurbishment project for Master Marine for Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup development in the North Sea is progressing well.
Late last month a vessel carrying the fabricated products departed from Lamprell’s Hamriyah yard in the UAE for Norway.
The components will be installed on the jackup accommodation rigHaven at a subcontractor’s yard, with the program due to be completed this spring.
Lamprell says the market for rig refurbishments picked up towards the end of last year. The fabricator completed 13 projects in this category last year, with four under way at present, and 14 further jackup rigs stacked at its facilities.
Although the scope of work on these projects is typically less than in previous years, it does appear to be a positive indication of a broader rig market recovery, the company claimed.
