LYSAKER, Norway – Statoil has awarded Kvaerner a framework agreement to upgrade the Njord A semisubmersible platform in the Norwegian Sea.
Due to concerns over structural integrity of the platform for future operations and drilling it will be towed to shore this year, also undergoing a general upgrade during the yard-stay.
The framework agreement is based on a project execution plan that at key milestones gives Statoil the right to call-off execution of further phases.
The first call-off relates to front-end engineering and design of the project.Aker Solutions MMO will perform engineering as a subcontractor in an integrated team with Kvaerner.
Kvaerner built and delivered Njord A at its Stord yard in Norway in 1997.
