Odfjell Oceanwind was founded as Oceanwind in 2019 by Norwegians Jon Erik Borgen, Eystein Borgen and Geirmund Aasbø.
In 2020, Odfjell invested in Oceanwind and renamed it Odfjell Oceanwind.
In early 2021, the second largest Nordic operator of onshore wind, Aneo (former Trønderenergi), and the Norwegian investor Blystad Group became shareholders. In 2023, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) became a shareholder in Odfjell Oceanwind.
Odfjell Oceanwind is a private company with ties to Odfjell Technology and Odfjell Drilling, both listed companies at the Oslo Stock Exchange.
Odfjell Oceanwind has formed a joint venture with Prodtex to develop low-cost and high-capacity manufacturing of foundations for floating wind turbines.
