Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNRL) has halted production through the FPSO Baobab Ivoirien MV10 offshore Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of sending the vessel ashore for a dry dock refurbishment.
According to partner VAALCO Energy, the final lifting of crude oil from the vessel will take place in the next few days.
Mobilization has started of support vessels and equipment to disconnect the vessel, which is due to depart the field on March 24 to undergo a wet tow a Dubai shipyard for the refurbishment.
Once that work has finished, the reconnected FPSO should be able to continue production through at least 2038, said VAALCO CEO George Maxwell, subject to securing regulatory approvals for the license extension and additional investment.
