Golar LNG has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement with CIMC Raffles for a MK II Floating LNG Production (FLNG) vessel.
This will have with an annual liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tons of LNG per annum (“MTPA”).
Under the arrangement, Black & Veatch will contribute its PRICO technology, perform detailed engineering and process design, and procure topside equipment.
It will also provide commissioning support for the FLNG topsides and liquefaction process, similar to its previous roles in the construction of Golar’s FLNGs Hilli and Gimi.
The MK II design is an evolution of the MK I design for those two vessels and this project will also involve conversion of an LNG carrier (Golar’s Fuji) to the FLNG.
According to Golar, MK II supports modularization of the construction process and should lead to efficiency and operability advances, based on its prior experiences with FLNG construction and subsequent operations.
The completed vessel should be delivered in Q4 2027. As part of the EPC agreement Golar has secured an option for a second MK II FLNG conversion slot at CIMC, for delivery by 2028.
