LONDON — The FPSO for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) Phase 1 LNG development is undergoing mooring 40 km offshore Mauritania and Senegal in water depth of 120 m.
It follows a voyage of more than 12,000 nautical miles from the COSCO Qidong Shipyard in China.
The bp-operated development will produce gas from subsea wells in up to 2,850 m water depth, the deepest to date offshore West Africa, with production converted into 2.3 MM metric tons/year of LNG annually for more than 20 years.
During normal operations, the FPSO will have up to 140 personnel onboard. It will process more than 500 MMcf/d of gas, removing water, condensate and impurities before transferring it via a pipeline to the converted FLNG vessel Gimi at the hub terminal, about 10 km offshore.
Here the gas will be cryogenically cooled, liquefied and stored before mostly being transferred to LNG carriers for export. Some, however, will be directed to the domestic markets in Mauritania and Senegal.
