PAPENDRECHT, the Netherlands – Boskalis’ semisubmersible heavy-lift vessel BOKA Vanguard (ex-Dockwise Vanguard) is preparing to load a 90,000-ton FPSO, the heaviest cargo ever transported by a vessel of this type, the company claims.
The renaming of the vessel is the start of the process to present an integrated service portfolio for the offshore energy sector under the Boskalis brand name, comprising the activities of the subsidiaries formerly known as Dockwise, Fairmount, and VBMS.
Boskalis claims this will be an unrivalled combination of people, vessels, and activities. The company adds that its goals are to strengthen its positions in marine transport and services and seabed intervention, and to expand its position in marine installation, subsea, and marine survey, supported by its recent acquisition of Gardline.
In response to the growing market demand for inspection, repair and maintenance of subsea offshore installations, pipelines and cables, Boskalis recently added two large diving support vessels and the crane vesselBokalift 1 to its fleet.
These will be employed both for oil and gas and for offshore windfarm installation projects.
