SHI, Ocean Rig delay drillship delivery

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. and Samsung Heavy Industries have agreed to postpone the delivery of the newbuild drillship Ocean Rig Crete to September 2020.

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman IslandsOcean RigUDW Inc. and Samsung Heavy Industries have agreed to postpone the delivery of the newbuild drillship Ocean Rig Crete to September 2020.

Under the agreement reached with SHI the expected delivery date will be Sept. 30, 2020 but may be brought forward at the option of thedrilling rig contractor. As part of the agreement, the company will make a $22.25 million payment to the yard next month against the remaining yard installments.

The eighth-generation enhanced integrated design newbuild drillship will be able to drill in water depths of up to 4,000 m (13,123 ft).
