Siem commissions two anchor handlers

Siem Offshore has contracted the Kleven Verft and Myklebust Verft yards in Norway for two anchor handling vessels.

ULSTEINVIK, Norway --Siem Offshore has contracted the Kleven Verft and Myklebust Verft yards in Norway for two anchor handling vessels.

The Vik Sandvik VS 491 Clean Design vessels will be 91 m (298 ft) long, with a beam of 22 m (72 ft), and will provide accommodation for 60 personnel. Installed power will be 20,460kW (28,000 HP), with a 500 metric ton (551 ton) winch capacity, and a 30 metric ton (39.69 ton) bollard pull capacity.

The combined contract value is $197 million. Both vessels should be delivered during summer 2010. Siem Offshore now has a total of 14 contracts with Kleven.
