SBM confirms FPSO charter for Sapinhoá in deepwater offshore Brazil

SBM Offshore has contracted for a 20-year charter and operation of the FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela.

MONACO – SBM Offshore has contracted for a 20-year charter and operation of the FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela. This will be deployed on the northern part of the Sapinhoá (former Guara area field development (former Guara Atrea) in block BM-S-9 in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The contracts have been executed with Guara BV and with the BM-S-9 consortium of Petrobras, BG, and Repsol Sinopec Brasil. SBM affiliates and Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás (QGOG) had been awardedtwo letters of intent for this work last August.

The unit will be owned and operated by a joint venture comprising SBM affiliated companies, QGOG, and Mitsubishi.

Sapinhoá is 300 km (186 mi) offshore in 2,140 m (7,021 ft) water depth. The FPSO will have topside facilities to process 150,000 b/d of production fluids, associated gas treatment for 6 MMcm/d (212 cf/d), compression and carbon dioxide removal, hydrogen sulfide removal, and a 180,000 b/d water injection facility.

Production should begin during the second half of 2014.
