IJMUIDEN, the Netherlands –The UK division of Offshore Ship Designers has won a contract to supply the design for a version of its IMT 982 Platform Supply Vessel. The vessel will be built at the new Honghua Offshore Oil & Gas Equipment shipyard in Jiangsu, China.
It is contracted through OSD-Shanghai, with OSD-Singapore providing design engineering technical support to OSD Shanghai for design modification. The basic class-approved design documentation and design license is by OSD-IMT Ltd, Montrose, UK.
The PSV is 83.2 m (273 ft) long with a 900 sq m (9,688 sq ft) deck area. It has a maximum load deadweight of about 4,000 metric tons at 6 m draft. It will have a DP-2 system and accommodations for a crew of 28.
Swire Pacific Offshore has confirmed an order with Universal Shipbuilding Corp. in Japan for six high-specification IMT 984 3700 DWT PSVs designed by OSD-IMT, with options for a further four vessels. The vessels will be built in Universal’s Keihin Shipyard and delivered progressively from 3Q 2014.
