Ocean Rig, Petrobras ink deal on two UDW drillships

Ocean Rig UDW Inc has signed a $1.1 billion three-year contract with Petrobras to extend a lease on two ultra-deepwater drillships.

RIO DE JANEIRO –Ocean Rig UDW Inc has signed a $1.1 billion three-year contract with Petrobras to extend a lease on two ultra-deepwater drillships.

Petrobras will have the ships, the Ocean Rig Corcovado and Ocean Rig Mykonos, for 1,095 days, Reuters reported.

TheCorcovado and Mykonos are sixth-generation drill ships capable of drilling wells in waters up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m) deep. They were built by Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard in Korea and launched in 2011.
