Petrobras commits to second Aker subsea intervention vessel

Petrobras has contracted Aker Oilfield Services (AKOFS) to provide subsea intervention services offshore Brazil from the Aker Wayfarer vessel.

FORNEBU, Norway – Petrobras has contracted Aker Oilfield Services (AKOFS) to provide subsea intervention services offshore Brazil from the Aker Wayfarer vessel.
The $465-million contract, which starts in 4Q 2016, has a five-year extension option.
Aker Wayfarer will be outfitted at a yard in Norway to become a deepwater subsea equipment support vessel (SESV). It will feature a fiber-rope deployment system, deck skidding systems, and a subsea orientation equipment spread, allowing it to install and retrieve subsea trees and modules including manifolds.
It will be the second vessel of this type operated byAKOFS in Brazil. Skandi Santoshas been performing SESV services for Petrobras since March 2010.
Later this month AKOFS will become part ofAkastor, an oilfield services investment company that was formed following the separation of Aker Solutions.
