HELSINKI, Finland -- Hellesøy Verft has contracted Wärtsilä to provide the design and equipment for a new platform supply vessel.
The PSV, due to be delivered toward end-2012, will be owned and operated by Norwegian ship owner, Vestland Offshore. It will be 85.6 m (280 ft) long, with a breadth of 20 m (65.6 ft), a cargo deck area of around 1,000 sq m (10,764 sq ft), and a dead weight at 7 m (23 ft) of 5,000 metric tons (5,511 tons).
It will be based on Wärtsilä Ship Design’s proven VS 485 concept, which features an optimized hull design for greater efficiency, with corresponding reduced emission to air.
The vessel will be equipped with Wärtsilä medium speed engines and Wärtsilä NOx reducer technology. The scope of supply includes four Wärtsilä 9L20 diesel generator sets, the electric propulsion system, the power management system, and an integrated automation system.
