HELSINKI, Finland -- Wärtsilä is to supply a total propulsion package for a new semisubmersible heavy-lift vessel under construction by Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea. The vessel, owned and operated by Dockwise, will have an overall length of 270 m (886 ft).
The scope of supply specifies two Wärtsilä 6L38 engines and two Wärtsilä 12V38 engines for the ship's main propulsion, and one Wärtsilä 6L20 auxiliary engine. Wärtsilä will also provide the reduction gear system, two controllable pitch propellers, two retractable thrusters, and one bow thruster.
The vessel, due to be launched late in 2012, will be capable of transporting FPSOs in their entirety.
