CIMC Raffles has assembled the first-ever arctic semisubmersible drilling rig at its Yantai yard.

SINGAPORE – CIMC Raffles has assembled the first-ever arctic semisubmersible drilling rig at its Yantai yard.

North Dragon is designed to operate in arctic conditions in water depths of 500 m (1,640 ft) to 1,200 m (3,937 ft) and drill to depths of 8,000 m (26,247 ft). It has Rolls & Royce power, Kongsberg DP-3, Siemens electronic controls, and NOV drilling systems.

Based on GM4-D design, CIMC Raffles completed the basic design together with Global Maritime.
