SINGAPORE — Strategic Marine has delivered the first of two Gen 4 fast crew boats (FCB) to Thai offshore services provider Truth Maritime Services (TMS).
The client has a fleet of 13 crew boats that transport offshore personnel and cargo to support offshore petroleum exploration and production and maintenance of platforms in the region.
In addition, TMS operates accommodation work barges close to these facilities to minimize transfer times at sea.
The two new 42-m vessels will support the company’s expansion plans in the Southeast Asia region.
Strategic Marine recently developed the Gen 4 FCB with Southerly Designs. Features include a new hull form and Z-bow that are said to improve seakeeping and consume less power for the same speed and deadweight tonnage as existing counterpart vessels.
The onboard energy saving system is another innovation developed by Strategic Marine with TMS. It is a hybrid technology that uses an energy storage system to capture energy generated by the main engines for various applications on the vessel.
Other aspects of the vessels are the passenger layout, said to have been optimized to enable transfer up to 100 offshore personnel in business-class comfort.
The strengthened deck allows for the installation of a walk-to-work system, with a motion-compensated gangway, and can be combined with a gyro-stabilizer to provide further stability for transfers, including in bad weather conditions.
Both new vessels should enter service shortly.
