Vard wins offshore wind newbuild vessel order

Vard has signed a contract with Navigare Capital Partners, in cooperation with Norwind Offshore, to design and build a CSOV.

ÅLESUND, NorwayVARD has signed a contract with Navigare Capital Partners, in cooperation with Norwind Offshore, to design and build a commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) for the offshore wind sector, with options for two more.

The VARD 4 19 design, developed by Vard Design in Ålesund and Norwind Offshore, is due to be delivered in first-quarter 2026. Its hull will be built in Vard Shipyards Romania – Braila, followed by outfitting and commissioning at one of the company’s Norwegian yards.

Features of the design are said to include the onboard logistics, security, comfort and superior operability. The vessel is 85 m long with a beam of 19.5 m, and equipped with a height-adjustable motion-compensated gangway with elevator system, a 3D crane and a height-adjustable boat landing system.

It will have accommodation for 87 people, also have battery solutions for propulsion.

This will be the fifth newbuild CSOV Norwind Offshore has contracted with Vard since October 2021. The first, Norwind Gale, is in operation, with the remainder to be delivered this year from Vard Brattvaag, Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, and Vard Brattvaag, respectively.
