Sangomar FPSO departs for Senegal

The FPSO Léopold Sédar Senghor has started its 12,000-nautical mile voyage to the deepwater Sangomar oil field offshore Senegal.

SINGAPORE — The FPSO Léopold Sédar Senghor started its 12,000-nautical mile voyage Dec. 22 to the deepwater Sangomar oil field offshore Senegal.

Over the past year, MODEC has overseen topsides integration and precommissioning work for the vessel, a former VLCC, at the Seatrium shipyard in Singapore.

It will be moored at a location 100 km south of Dakar. Operator Woodside Energy aims to start production from Phase 1 of the Sangomar development in mid-2024.

The FPSO, named after Senegal’s first president, is designed to process 100,000 bbl/d of crude oil from a network of subsea wells, with capacity to store a minimum of 1.3 MMbbl of oil and to inject 145,000 bbl/d of water.

MODEC also owill provide operations and maintenance services.  This is the fifth FPSO the company has delivered to projects offshore West Africa.
