HAUGESUND, Norway — Reach Subsea has signed a long-term charter contract with Agalas for a modern IMR/survey vessel, with delivery scheduled for early 2026.
The contract could last for five years or more. The low-emissions vessel, to be constructed at the Sefine Shipyard in Turkey, will also provide a smart lifting arrangement, Reach Subsea said, along with an equipment package that can be adapted to various offshore sectors.
The vessel will be able to undertake complex tasks for renewable energy and offshore oil and gas clients and ultradeepwater seabed surveys for the seabed mineral industry. It will measure 9.9 m by 21 m, with a 150-ton AHC knuckle boom crane and a deck area of 900 sq m to support IMR and construction work.
Its dual-fuel gensets can run on either methanol or a combined MGO/battery system. When powered by methanol, its CO2 emissions should be about 70% lower than those of the company’s existing vessel fleet; with the MGO/battery system, the projected is about to achieve a reduction of about 20%.
Finally, the ROV launch and recovery system will be prepared for the deepwater seabed survey market.
Reach Subsea has developed the vessel’s specifications in collaboration with Agalas and NSK Ship Design.
