OSLO, Norway — Light Structures, a specialist in fiber-optic condition monitoring systems based on Fiber Bragg Grating technology, will supply SENSFIB hull monitoring systems to YANTAI CIMC Raffles Offshore for the delivery to two FPSOs commissioned by Petrobras.
The company secured the contracts for the P-80 and P-83 platforms via its agent China Merchants Hoi Tung, following another recent SENSFIB order for eight LNG carriers.
Both FPSOs, with a production capacity of 225,000 bbl/d of oil, will be deployed at the Búzios Field in the presalt Santos Basin offshore Brazil. The first SENSFIB system should reach the yard later this month, followed by the second next April.
The platforms’ digital twins will allow Petrobras to perform remote simulation and testing to support operational safety, reliability and efficiency. The DTs will be connected to live data from various onboard sensors on the FPSOs such as the SENSFIB hull monitoring system, with the aim being to provide accurate data for any pre-operation check-outs by Petrobras engineers.
