NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, UK — Royston has overhauled a diesel power plant system onboard the Tidewater Marine-operated platform support vessel Highland Chieftain.
The company’s engineers performed the 18,000-running hour service of a Scania DI12 harbor generator, while the vessel was moored in Aberdeen.
This involved dismantling the generator, stripping out manifolds, turbo, rocker gear, pumps, pistons, liners, oil cooler, fan and belt guards long with the camshaft for inspection. Where necessary, items were repaired or replaced.
All parts including the engine block underwent cleaning while the aftercooler was also stripped down at Royston’s local test and repair center before this top was cleaned and rebuilt.
And the team fitted new turbo, water pump and thermostat units before the entire power plant was reassembled and tested for operational performance.
