SINGAPORE  Keppel FELS Ltd. has dispatched the first of three jackup rigs to ADNOC Drilling.

The trio were among five rigs that Keppel FELS had been building for Borr Drilling. Last month parent company Keppel Offshore & Marine (O&M) entered an agreement with Borr and its subsidiaries to speed up delivery of three jackups to Borr or a third party (with Borr as the seller).

Borr has since novated the construction contracts for the three rigs to ADNOC Drilling.

Keppel O&M has received full payment of about $160 million and expects to receive at least $352 million for all three rigs between 2022 and 2023, in addition to down payments issued by previous clients for the rigs.

The first unit delivered is of the KFELS Super B Class design, capable of operating in more than 400 ft of water, drilling to depths of 35,000 ft, and drilling deep wells both vertically and horizontally.

It will have a fully automated high-capacity rack and pinion jacking system, a self-positioning fixation system and accommodation for 150 persons.
