VWS Westgarth working on seawater process plant for Yellowtail FPSO

EAST KILBRIDE, UK  Veolia Water Technologies subsidiary VWS Westgarth will supply a seawater treatment process module for the FPSO for Exxon Mobil’s Yellowtail project in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.

The Yellowtail - SBM Offshore/McDermott joint venture ordered the equipment.

VWS Westgarth’s work scope covers design, procurement and supply of equipment to process 15,350 cu m/hr of seawater for cooling, fresh water and low-sulfate water injection.

The nano-filtered low-sulfate seawater injection will be supplied at up to 2,092 cu m/hr, with fresh water delivered from seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) at 350 cu m/hr.

The seawater system will be a fully integrated process module comprising coarse filtration, UltraMEV108 ultrafiltration pretreatment, a sulfate removal membrane process, SWRO membrane process, membrane "Clean-In-Place" unit, vacuum deaerator unit, water injection booster pumps with system piping, valves and instrumentation.

Low-sulfate seawater will be injected into the oil-bearing reservoir to maintain pressure and improve secondary recovery.

This will be Veolia’s 14th sulfate removal process technology project with SBM Offshore and its third for the Stabroek Block, following deliveries to the Liza Unity and Liza Prosperity FPSOs.
