NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, U.K.—Royston has completed an overhaul of the main propulsion diesel engines on a seismic support vessel operated by Cork-based Irish Mainport Holdings.
Engineers performed the work on the port and starboard Cummins QSK60 MCRS engines onboard the 55-m-long MV Mainport Pine, as part of a scheduled maintenance program of the vessel’s power systems while the vessel was docked in the Port of Sunderland, northeast England.
It involved removal of fuel injectors, turbochargers, cylinder heads, powerpack assemblies and camshafts. Royston rebuilt the engines using service exchange components, new bearings, seals and gaskets, followed by sea trials with incremental load testing and alarm shutdowns.
