ACCRA, Ghana – Aker Energy Ghana has provisionally awarded Yinson Holdings Berhad a bareboat charter and operations/maintenance contract for an FPSO at the deepwater Pecan field offshore Ghana.

The letter of intent follows a competitive tender for the project in the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points (DWT/CTP) block.

Contracts will have a firm duration of 10 years followed by five-yearly extension options exercisable by Aker Energy as operator, on behalf of its partners Lukoil, Fueltrade, and GNPC.

The FPSO will be connected to what Aker Energy describes as a state-of-the-art’ subsea production system in 2,400 m (7,874 ft) of water.

This will be Ghana’s fourth mid-deepwater production installation and Yinson’s second FPSO to operate in Ghanaian waters, the first being the John Agyekum Kufuor, which has served Eni since 2017.
