Apache extends Diamond semisub charter in the North Sea

HOUSTON Diamond Offshore has issued an update on its drilling rig fleet.

Apache has awarded the semisubmersible Ocean Patriot a one-year contact extension in the UK North Sea. The contract is now expected to run until early June 2021.

In mid-February, the drillship Ocean BlackHornet is expected to start its two-year contract with BP in the US Gulf of Mexico.

In mid-July, the drillship Ocean BlackLion is expected to start its two-year contract with BP in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The drillships Ocean BlackHawk and Ocean BlackRhino are expected to start drilling for Woodside offshore Senegal in 2Q 2022 and 2Q 2021, respectively.

In addition, Diamond has warm stacked the semisubmersible Ocean GreatWhite and reported a sale is pending for the semisub Ocean Confidence.

During 2019, the company secured $620 million of backlog. As of Jan. 1, 2020, its total contracted backlog was $1.6 billion.
