STAVANGER, Norway – Floatel International and Prosafe have secured support from their majority banks for their proposed merger.
Completion remains subject to various approvals, including the competition process in Norway and the UK.
Prosafe said prospects for its accommodation rigs remain strong globally, in its latest results statement, although current tendering activity is modest with only limited opportunities for additional work in the North Sea over the rest of this year.
The company secured two contracts offshore Brazil earlier in the year and Petrobras is seeking three safety and maintenance units, two on longer-term deals.Â
Mexico’s new administration has awarded drilling contracts to non-Mexican service providers and Prosafe views this as a positive development. The company has an office in Mexico and is ready to bid for new accommodation contracts.
Next year, the company adds, maintenance and modification operations will be key for new work.
