Repsol Exploración México has awarded McDermott a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for its Polok and Chinwol oilfields development in the Gulf of Mexico.
McDermott will perform design services for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines package.
Repsol discovered the two fields, located 88 km offshore Tabasco State in 500 m water depth, in 2020. These were the first wells drilled on Block 29 in the Sureste Basin, awarded in Mexico’s deepwater 2.4 round in 2018.
According to then partner Wintershall Dea, Polok was a play-opening discovery in an early Miocene reservoir, while the Chinwol well encountered oil in Pliocene formations.
