DUBAI, UAE – Norwegian contractor Reach Subsea has agreed to charter Topaz Energy and Marine’s new subsea vessel Topaz Tiamat.
Topaz commissioned Vard Norway to build the vessel in 2015 as part of its fleet renewal strategy.
Mobilization will start immediately, including minor upgrades, with mid-February the targeted date for delivery to Reach for the firm two-and-a-half-year charter.
Thereafter, there are three-yearly add-on options. The vessel will primarily support IMR, subsea construction, and survey projects.
TheTopaz Tiamat is a 1,000-sq m (10,764-sq ft), diesel-electric light subsea construction vessel with accommodation for 82 personnel and features an AHC 120-metric ton (132-ton) subsea construction crane.
It is said to be built to the highest North Sea standards. The charter terms include a battery pack upgrade to drive further fuel savings and reduce the vessel’s environmental footprint, and integration of two hangar deployed, deepwater capable work-class ROVs.

Sister vesselTangaroa was also designed with, and built by, Vard Norway.
