NORWICH, UK – Aquaterra Energy has won a contract valued at up to $16.8 million to design and build six drill center templates (DCTs) for Premier Oil’s Catcher development in the UK central North Sea.
The new project takes in the Catcher, Burgman, and Varadero fields and will entail drilling 22 wells in 90 m (295 ft) of water, tied back to anFPSO.
James Larnder, technical sales director at Aquaterra Energy, said: “The six steel DCTs, each weighing over 100 metric tons [110 tons], complete with super-duplex piping manifolds, will enable the drilling of production and water injection wells without the need for rig moves for each cluster of wells. Delivery… is scheduled to take place during 2015 and 1Q 2016 when they will then be installed on the seabed ready for use during Premier’s drilling program.”
