Subsea 7 hired for Ekofisk tie-ins

LUXEMBOURG --ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has awarded Subsea 7 two SURF contracts offshore Norway with a total value of $150 million. Both are for work on the Greater Ekofisk Area in the North Sea.

The first contract covers engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and hyperbaric weld tie in of a new water injection line, to be connected with an inline tee structure to an existing 24-in. (61-cm) water injection pipeline on the Eldfisk field.

The work scope also includes umbilical and host protection structure installation. Engineering start in the second half of this year, with offshore operations conducted mainly in 2012.

Subsea 7’s second contract involves engineering, procurement, installation, and tie-in of spools, associated structures, and production covers for the 24-in. and 30-in. oil and gas export pipelines to the new 2/7S platform on the Ekofisk field.

Here the scope includes re-routing of the 14-in. (35.6-cm) Embla production line to the new platform. Engineering will start later this year, followed by offshore operations in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
