Shell gets go-ahead to start up Draugen subsea wells offshore Norway

Norske Shell has permission from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to use two new subsea wells on the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, NorwayNorske Shell has permission from Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to use two new subsea wells on the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea.

The field location is at the Haltenbanken, 150 km (93 mi) north of Kristiansund. Production started in 1993.

In 2013, Shell initiated a program to drill four subsea wells, two of which came onstream in 2014.

PSA’s consent relates to the final two wells, G2 and G3, and also covers underwater equipment and subsea pumps and equipment on board the Draugen platform linked to the wells.
