STAVANGER, NorwayStatoil has awarded Wood Group the detailed design scope of the subsea tieback from the Utgard gas and condensate field to the Sleipner facilities in the Norwegian North Sea. The $1-million workscope is the first call off under the master service agreement signed in May 2016.

The three-year contract will be executed from the company’s offices in Stavanger and Oslo.

The Utgard tieback consists of a 21-km (13-mi) long pipe-in-pipe production pipeline from the four-slot template at Utgard to the Sleipner T platform and an integrated service umbilical from the Sleipner A.

The contract builds on the company’s support of the Utgard field development; earlier this year it completed the front-end engineering and design for the same project.

Robin Watson, Wood Group’s CEO, said: “This further cements our strong global relationship with Statoil that is built on trust in our broad portfolio of capabilities and provision of innovative and diverse technical solutions.

“We are excited to continue our work on the next stage of the Utgard field development and will leverage our deep knowledge of the field and the Sleipner facilities, alongside our commitment to working collaboratively with Statoil to ensure success in effective and efficient delivery of this challengingsubsea project.”
