ST JOHN’S, Canada — The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is seeking comments from the public concerning Cenovus Energy’s development plan amendment application.

This concerns future use of standalone subsea trees (SA XMTs) at the offshore White Rose and North Amethyst fields.

Cenovus Energy views the trees as a safe alternate method for mitigating the risk of iceberg impact on the subsea wells.

Use of the SA XMTs would be subject to additional approval by the C-NLOPB through a separate development plan or development plan amendment.

Deadline for comments is Feb. 8, 2024.
