MILAN, Italy — Eni Côte d’Ivoire and partner Petroci have awarded Saipem a subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) contract for their Baleine Phase 2 project in 1,200 m water depth offshore Côte d’Ivoire.
The workscope covers EPC of about 20 km of rigid pipelines, 10 km of flexible risers and jumpers, and 15 km of umbilicals all connected to a floating platform. Saipem vessels will perform the offshore installation in 2024.
Under an association with Rosetti Marino and Micoperi, Saipem will provide construction services for Snam Rete Gas for a new FSRU to be stationed off Ravenna, eastern Italy in the Adriatic Sea.
Here, the scope comprises EPCI of a new offshore facility, linked to the existing one, for docking and mooring of the FSRU, which will be connected to the shore via an 8.5-km, 26-inch offshore pipeline and a 2.6-km onshore pipeline and parallel fiber-optic cable.
The shore crossing will employ a micro-tunnelling system to minimize environmental impact. Saipem’s Castoro 10 barge (pictured above) will perform the offshore pipelay.
The new FSRU will increase Italy’s LNG import capacity.
In June, Eni and Petroci contracted Baker Hughes to supply subsea systems for the Baleine Phase 2 project offshore Côte d’Ivoire, said to be Africa’s first Scope 1 and 2 net-zero emissions development.
