FORNEBU, Norway – Equinor has awarded Aker Solutions an EPCIC contract for the tiebacks of the Berling (ex-Iris and Hades) gas fields to the Åsgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea.
There are two EPCIC scopes, one taking effect immediately, and the other in September. Offshore mobilization will start in November 2025, with the tieback program due to be completed in December 2027, followed by first gas in 2028.
Estimated recoverable reserves are around 45 MMboe.
Last August Aker Solutions completed the project FEED and has since further developed the scope and optimized the technical solution for the tie-in at Åsgard B.
The company’s offices in central Norway are managing the project, with detail engineering, procurement and shop engineering to be handled from Trondheim office with support from offices in Bergen and Mumbai.
Pre-fabrication will take place the company’s yard in Egersund.
Berling is on the Halten Bank, 23 km south-east of the Åsgard field.
Late last week, a process module fabricated for the ConocoPhillips’ Tommeliten A gas condensate field in the Greater Ekofisk Area of the southern Norwegian North Sea was transferred to a barge at Egersund.
The development comprises comprising two subsea templates that can accommodate up to 12 production wells. Facilities will be tied back to the Ekofisk complex, where the new processing module will be installed.
