WESTHILL, U.K. — Legasea has completed a reuse program for 10 decommissioned subsea production systems retrieved from the Celtic Sea.
The company developed its "Shore-to-Store" service with support from Scottish Enterprise’s Green Jobs Fund. It involves refurbishment, recertification, remanufacture and reuse of subsea equipment no longer required by its owners.
It follows engagement with operators and service companies in the subsea sector to develop a service designed to benefit the industry environmentally and economically.
“With more than 6,400 [subsea] trees installed globally, at least a quarter of which are in the North Sea, we look forward to assisting with many more decommissioning scopes, with the recovered parts supporting late-life operations in a sustainable manner," said Lewis Sim, Legasea managing director.
