ABERDEEN, UK – Rotech Subsea has completed a jacket template and wellhead re-burial campaign in the southern North Sea for an unnamed offshore marine services provider.
The company deployed its TRS2 Controlled Flow Excavation and suspended jet trenching tool for the program last summer, with the Rotech RSG grab tool also assisting recovery of a PLET structure.
According to the company, the client chose this equipment for the reburial due to its ability to fluidize and displace large amounts of sediment. The spread operated in depths of up to 17 m (56 ft).
The TRS2 de-buried the jacket template and wellhead, reaching up to 5.5 m (18 ft) in de-burial depth in dense sand soils. It also performed backfilling operations, minimizing the effect on the seabed (Rotech claims), by filling the excavated area with the removed sediment.
