PERTH, AustraliaAquaterra Energy will provide riser equipment to an unnamed vessel owner/operator for deeper water well interventions, mainly in the Asia/Pacific region.

The 7 3/8-in. AQC-CW completions and workover riser system and automated handling package will operate in water depths of up to 1,500 m (4,921 ft).

Aquaterra has designed the system to withstand repeat make and breaks, and to provide a gas tight metal-to-metal seal. It can be operated from a lightweight intervention vessel, semisubmersible or jackup as a surface riser, open water subsea riser, or as a landing string.

According to the company the NACE-compliant technology and the pipe-to-connector attachment dispenses with the need for welding, making the riser lighter and providing enhanced water depth deployment capacity.

In addition, pressure testing of each connection upon make up is said to deliver enhanced environmental reassurance against wellbore fluid discharge.

The company will manage the full project scope via its in-house engineering and project management teams, also providing fatigue utilization and management through riser monitoring hardware to extend asset life; and automated hands-off connector makeup and umbilical handling equipment for safety/offshore efficiency.
