ABERDEEN, UK – Maritime Developments (MDL) has completed a SURF decommissioning program in the UK North Sea for Helix Robotics Solutions.
This involved retrieval of seven cables, umbilicals, flowlines and jumpers connected to an FPSO, using an equipment spread operated by MDL technicians.
The spread comprised a second-generation reel drive system, TTS-4/140 Series Tensioner and deck deflectors onboard the Skandi Acergy.
It was used for spooling of the product under tension onto two installation reels, also supplied by MDL, with transpooling of the product subsequently conducted onshore for disposal.
