FORNEBU, Norway – Aker Solutions has signed a letter of intent with Equinor covering a subsea production system for the Kristin Sør oil and gas satellites in the North Sea.
The NOK 1-billion ($113-million) contract, with options for additional work, should take effect next year, with delivery completed during the first half of 2023.
Kristin Sør comprises the Lavrans and Kristin Q fields, both satellites to the existing Kristin semisubmersible platform.
Aker Solutions expects to supply a subsea template with four standardized vertical subsea trees for the Lavrans center; and a manifold for Kristin Q, to be installed in the Kristin Q template that the company supplied in 2007.
According to the company, its standardized subsea tree design shortens the time from the start of a project to first oil. Features include Vectus control systems and reduced use of steel, said to help cut weight by around 50%.
The Kristin Sør solution follows a collaboration with Equinor in the project’s front-end phase in parallel with R&D at the Tranby Technology Center.
Aker Solutions divisions in Tranby, Egersund and Ågotnes in Norway, Curitiba in Brazil, Reading in the UK, and Port Klang in Malaysia, will all supply components, with manufacturing of the subsea trees performed in Curitiba.
The HP/HT Kristin gas/condensate field is in the Norwegian Sea. The contract award remains subject to a final investment decision by the partners and regulatory approval.
