LYSAKER, Norway – Equinor has issued a letter of intent to Aker Solutions to provide a subsea production system.
This would be used for the next stage of the Askeladd gas development in the Barents Sea off northern Norway. The value of the potential contract is around NOK400 million ($41.3 million).
Askeladd Vest represents phase two of the multi-phased Snøhvit gas development in the region.
According to Aker Solutions CEO Luis Araujo, the new subsea production system will be based on the company’s standard technology and products it delivered to various current projects, including Askeladd phase one and Johan Castberg in the same region, and for Troll phase three and Breidablikk in the North Sea.
The additional scope for the Askeladd field includes one template with a manifold, and two subsea trees with associated control systems. Aker Solutions sites in Tranby, Egersund and Ågotnes in Norway and Brazil, Malaysia, and the UK will be responsible for the deliveries.
