Samsung outlines dimensions of deepwater Coral FLNG vessel

Samsung Heavy Industries has issued more details of its $2.5-billion contract to build a floating LNG production facility for Eni’s Coral South gas development offshore Mozambique.

GEOJE ISLAND, South Korea – Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has issued more details of its $2.5-billion contract to build a floating LNG (FLNG) production facility for Eni’s Coral South gas developmentoffshore Mozambique.

The vessel will be 439 m (1,440 ft) long, 65 m (213 ft) wide, 38.5 m (126 ft) deep, and with a weight of 210,000 tons. It will be designed to produce 3 MM tons/yr of LNG and 480,000 tons/yr of gas condensates (ultra-light oil).

It will be moored in 2,000 m (6,562 ft) of water in Area 4 in the Rovuma basin.

SHI won the order as part of a consortium with TechnipFMC and Japan’s JGC. SHI is responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction for the hull and production engineering and construction of the topsides.
