PANAMA CITY, Florida – GE has supplied equipment for Hornbeck Offshore Services’ (HOS) latest US flag, Jones Act-qualified multi-purpose platform supply vessels, built at Eastern Shipbuilding.
Onboard GE technology includes MKII MV3000 active front end drives manufactured in Kidsgrove, UK.
These provide the highest power density of any drive produced to date by GE’s Marine Solutions business, with performance said to be comparable to a much larger solution while occupying far less space onboard.
The vessels also feature the company’s latest generation dynamic positioning (DP) system SeaStream, said to offer an improved user control interface.
This restores control of the ship to the mariner with controls that are said to be simpler and intuitive, allowing critical information to be delivered in an easy to comprehend manner for the user (leading to more efficient DP operations).
HOS took delivery of thevessels in January and April. In addition, GE will provide training.
