SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands – ABS and DNV GL have issued full basic design approval for GustoMSC’s CJ54 cantilever drilling jackup.

Classification of the design, introduced last March, means the rig is now a ready solution for contractors and operators,GustoMSC says.

For the owner and yard the construction risk in terms of design changes and weight have been minimized and detailed design can start right away. In addition, owners can now choose the classification society of their preference without any impact on the basic design.

The CJ54 is suitable for water depths up to 450 ft (137 m) worldwide, and for areas where large leg penetrations occur, due to its high pre-load jacking capability and long leg length.

It is also said to be suited for harshNorth Sea conditions in up to 110 m (361 ft) of water.

The patented X-Y skidding system provides a drilling envelope of 90 x 56 ft (27 x 17 m).
