DUBAI, UAE — CNOOC Petroleum Europe has contracted Shelf Drilling’s newly acquired Shelf Drilling Fortress jackup for operations alongside the Golden Eagle platform in the UK central North Sea.
Starting in September, the rig will drill two wells over a four- to five-month period at an estimated cost of about $17 million. The contract includes options for additional wells with a total estimated duration of 13 months.
The rig was formerly known as the Noble Sam Hartley.
