HOUSTON — Marine geophysical service provider PXGEO has secured a vessel commitment from Shell to provide 12 months of high-end marine towed streamer seismic acquisition services over a two-year period.

A busy 2022
In October 2022, PXGEO was awarded a project in the Asia-Pacific region to acquire 3D seismic data for TGS. The seismic vessel PXGEO 2 was scheduled to mobilize in December 2022, with the project lasting for about three months.
That same month PXGEO completed a five-month oceanbottom node (OBN) project in the North Sea. Operating in a high-production simultaneous triple ROV mode, the project was successfully executed around subsea and surface infrastructure.
In September 2022, the PXGEO 2 vessel completed an eight-month towed streamer project for TGS in the Egyptian Red Sea. PXGEO said the project was successfully completed with excellent safety, environmental and operational performance acknowledged by the client.
After that project, the vessel began operating on a high-resolution 3D project in the North Sea. Upon completion at the end of September 2022, the company said the project delivered one of the highest trace density surveys acquired in the North Sea.
In August 2022, marine technology company Sonardyne said it saw an uplift in orders for its Pressure Inverted Echo Sounder (PIES) technology into the exploration and reservoir surveillance market in the first half of 2022. Among those investing in PIES are PXGEO, PGS Geophysical and Magseis Fairfield.
In July 2022, PXGEO secured a contract with Petrobras for a 3D OBN survey in Brazil. The survey was acquired in water depths to 2,200 m and began in late 2022 with a duration of about four months.
In May 2022, PXGEO activated a second OBN crew for a seismic acquisition project in the North Sea that began in April 2022. CGG awarded this work to PXGEO as part of a hybrid streamer and OBN project, with a duration of about three months.
In March 2022, PXGEO awarded CGG a two-part OBN seismic imaging project over the Sapinhoá shared reservoir in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. The aim was for the results to help operator Petrobras improve management of oil recovery and production development. At the time of the 2022 reporting, CGG was scheduled to process the 4D monitoring survey following acquisition by PXGEO, planned for 2023.
